Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had regular periods my whole life. I have been taking metformen for three months now and my periods have stopped. I have not had a period for two months. I am 49 years old. I have had no signs of menapause so I don t know if that s what s going on or if it may be due to my medication.
Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern. Metformin does not delay or stop menses. As you are near menopause and delay in menses is usual occurance during this premenopausal period as the hormonal level have decrease enough. All that you have to do is to do vaginal ultrasonography and FSH and LH level. Do regular excersize, healthy diet and relaxation excersizes. Hope it helps best. Don't forget to rate this answer and close the discussion at Healthcare Magic. Take your best care. Regards Dr Ejaz
