Does Swollen Lymph Nodes In Armpit And Rash On Arm Indicate Cellulitis?

my boyfriend and i are med students in dominican rep. he has 3 swollen lymph nodes in the armpit (one extremely large and a red-purple color), a rash on the arm that doesnt seem to get better with rash medication and look more like small open wounds, feet are constantly itchy especially after taking sneakers off (ive realized all these reactions have happened after he left his sandals somewhere and now he always has to wear his sneakers)

i did my research and i was thinking it may be cellulitis but i get so scared it can be something else!!

his father passed away last year from a heart attack and he too had the itchy feet.. his brother has it as well.

help!

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic.
I have gone through your query and I understand your concern about the not healing rash of your boyfriend.
As you are a med student, you will have to understand that lymph node swelling is usually associated with infection of the region they drain.
The common infections causing axillary lymph node swellings are B henselae infection (catscratch disease) and Staphylococcal or streptococcal skin infections.
Look for any significant history of exposure to an infected cat like a cat bite. Cellulitis can also be one of the reasons.
I suggest a culture sensitivity of a swab taken from the rash or oozing wounds to confirm the organism causing infection and appropriate antibiotics have to be taken based on that test result.
Coming to itchy feet, most common reason for them is dry skin or fungal infection. Get a skin consultation to confirm.
I hope I have helped you with this answer.
Thanks.
