Does Stomach Ulcers And Acid Reflux Cause Sleep Disorder?

I have Ulcers in my Stomach and throat. I have suffered from sever acid refux for for years. Now for last few years I'm always sleepy. I am up a lot through out the night with reflux but even after a good nights sleep I can keep my eyes open. Any thoughts?

Your symptoms may be related to the reflux and stomach ulcers. It is a common cause of pain during the night, because of a predominance of the vagal nerve during this period, causing a higher production of gastric acid and higher motility of the digestive tract.

But I would also recommend you to perform some tests to exclude another possible cause of this clinical scenario: sleep apnea.

I recommend you to perform a polysomnography and routine blood tests to establish the diagnosis.
