I have read the problems described in your query, the features outlined are suggestive of Herpes Zoster (Shingles) ophthalmicus (eye involvement). Herpes zoster ophthalmicus occurs when the varicella-zoster virus is reactivated in the ophthalmic division of the trigeminal nerve causing blurring of vision, drooping of the eye lid, corneal ulcer, visual impairment, etc. I advice you to take your husband to ophthalmic specialist for the treatment which may involve the use of either topical (drop) or oral antiviral medication. Intravenous medication may be necessary to prevent the visual impairment that might occur due to involvement of cornea. The anti viral drugs like Acyclovir or Famciclovir shorten the duration and severity of the infection and possibly reduce the odds of a recurrence.
