Does Sex Without Penetration Cause HIV?

Hi,

I was at a strip club on Bourbon St. last night and what I thought was to be a lap dance turned into something more (thanks to an alcohol-induced lack of judgement!) She pulled my penis out of my pants and rubbed herself on me- it was dark, so not sure if she rubbed me with just her panties, or if they were pulled to the side and touched my exposed penis. She finished me off with a hand-job. Am I at risk for HIV...or any other STDs?

Thanks for the help.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Genital rubbing is a risk factor for HIV, specially if it involved direct intimate contact, with her vagina and there were fluids exchanged.
The risk of acquiring the infection by genital rubbing is low because the wear and tear would be less as compared to actual penetration but is hard to estimate the exact risk of Hiv by genital rubbing.
The risk of transmission of Hiv through genital rubbing relative i.e the longer the act of rubbing carries on the higher the risk because there would be more wear and tear and more chances for the microbe to enter into the body.
Moreover, presence of sores increases the chances of transmission because there would be some blood cells mixed with the genital secretions, thereby increasing the chances of transmission of HIV.
I would suggest you to get screened for Hiv for your peace of mind. The earliest you can do that is by an HIV DUO test 1 month after this exposure.

Regards
