Does Severe Cold Also Cause Diarrhea And Nausea?

Hi, I have been sick with a cold for 4 days. It started with a sore throat, then coughing, then a runny blocked nose. I am concerned though because I have started feeling nauseous (last 2 days) have a loss of appetite am having diahrreah particularly at night when I am really blocked up. I'm wondering if it's to do with the mucas (clear).

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe cold, cough, runny blocked nose which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection is caused by virus known as common cold infection. Need not to worry about it. Nauseating feel and diarrhea occurs mainly as a co-infection due to impaired immunity of body and it could be side effect of medications if any you taken. I would suggest you to take few preventive measures such as avoid fried and spicy food. Apply mist humidifiers in room. Take multivitamins to booster your immunity. Visit ENT specialist once if symptoms keeps on persisting and get it examined and start treatment accordingly. You should take antihistamine drugs along with antibiotic combination. You should use decongestant nasal sprays like Otrivin along with antibiotic such as Amoxiclav. Use throat lozenges. You should do saltwater gargle as well.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
