Does Primolut Nor Cause Irregular Bleeding After Withdrawal?

hi ..i took primolut nor once daily for 5 days to delay my last period and when i stopped it i had my period in 3 days later, but now i had back bleeding in day 14e . this bleeding last for 10 days till now.. should i be worried or is it a normal withdrawal from primolut nor

hi. Welcome to HCM. Primolut nor contains active ingredient norethisterone, which is a synthetic hormone similar to the naturally occurring sex hormone, progesterone. It is used in a wide range of menstrual disorders.It may be used in the treatment of menstrual disorders such as irregular or painful menstrual periods, premenstrual syndrome and endometriosis. It may also be used to postpone the onset of menstruation for special circumstances, such as if travelling or taking part in sporting event. This irregular bleeding which u r getting is a known side effect of primolut nr. Other side effects are nausea, headache, breast discomfort, dizziness, weight gain etc. The irregular bleeding will subside and your period will come back to normal frequency after few days. But i suggest u to consult a gynaecologist if it wont happen. I also advice not to use this drug more frequently to postpone your periods.
