Does Presence Of Beta-HCG In Blood Indicate Pregnancy?

Hi, I am a 28 year old lady with 1.66 m height and 59 kg weight. I had sex 2 months before. after that I got two progestrone shots due to the late period and I had my period one week later. I did several home pregnancy test and they were all negative. after that I had a sonography and doctor said that I have multiple follicles in my both ovaries. so I started to take hormones by doctor prescription. it's 10 days now that I am taking the pills. I did a beta-HCG blood test 2 days before and it showed 1.2 IU/L. today I had another test and it was 0.66 mIU/mL. I am just wondering why I have beta-HCG in my blood since it's corresponded to the pregnancy. does it mean that I am pregnant?

Hi,
The serum beta-hCG titre above 5 mIU/ml is suggestive of pregnancy. Any value below this is insignificant. You are not pregnant. Your sonogram shows polycystic ovaries and this could be the reason for your irregular cycles. In the current scenario, you should get a hormone profile and take necessary medication as per the requirement. Also, maintain a healthy BMI and healthy diet along with regular exercise. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
