Does Positive Result For Dengue With High SGPT And SGOT Require Hospital Admission?

Hi, My brother was suffering with fever since a week. After blood test doctor found its due to dengue but the platelet count is good. His fever is in control now but the SGPT and STOP levels are high. Doctor suggested to admit in the hospital for better monitoring. He seems to ok so I doubt hospital admission is required ? Please suggest is it something that requires hospital admission and complete monitoring

HELLO,
i can understand your concern.
i would like to know the platelet count of your brother. platelet count has to checked on a daily basis to know the status of the patient. initially the platelets are in normal quantity. monitoring a patient with dengue is the best possible method. since the liver enzymes are also elevated its better to admit for a couple of days in a hospital where monitoring of the patient can be done properly. observation and supportive care with iv fluids and paracetamol are the first line of treatment. hope you are satisfied with our response. thanks for choosing HCM
