Does Pain In Right Side Flank Area, Shoulder And Lower Back To Butt Is Due To Floating Rib?
Hi, I have had pain in my right side flank area since I was 16, I am now 36. It comes and goes but has got slightly worse with each pregnancy (4 in total). My galdbladder is fine. I will get a sharp pain in my side and it will go into my shoulder, it will also travel into my lower back and down my butt like a sciatic pain into my leg. If I stretch out on my side and take a hot bath or anti inflamitory the pain subsides. I have also had massages which has also helped with the pain. Could this be a floating rib?
Hi. The pain you explained goes in favor of an internal problem causing radiation to the parts you told about. Floating ribs per se will not cause this problem. This can be due to as you rightly noted due to inflamed gall bladder , which you is normal. Was the sonography done? Go for a CT scan of lower chest and abdomen to rule out problems with liver , under the diaphragm. As also the spinal survey as many times the small compression at the thoracic level can cause this .
