Does My Father's X Ray Of Lungs Show Something Serious?

My dad is 84 years old and had persistent cough for quite sometime. Recently after doing and x-ray it was found that he has some irregular nodularities in both the lungs and also has coarse bronchal vasculature and thick bronchial walls. Is anything serious? Thanks

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your father's situation and problem.
Irregular nodularities and prominent BVM (bronchovascular marking ) in both lungs, on chest x ray is seen in Interstitial Lung disease ( ILD ).
He is also having
1. Old age
2. Chronic cough.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. CT thorax
3. PFT ( pulmonary function test ).
CT thorax will be more informative and diagnostic for ILD.
PFT will also helpful in determining decrease in lung functions.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these and first diagnose him self and then start appropriate treatment.
I find this answer helpful
