Hi doc, dermatologist has prescribed doxy 1l dr forte for acne, which is on my face since 6 months. I have also undergone lasek surgery 6 months ago. Will this affect my eyes? I mean will i experience dryness in the eyes? This has happened to me when doc had prescribed isotrentoin i developed epithelial erission in the eye. I am apprehensive abt the same this time also. I am kind of experiencing dryness. Is there anything to be worried abt? Should i also take in combination with other medicine? Pls guide.

Thank you for your answer! I will start answering your questions step by step.
First of all I would say that if a patient wears the laser googles during the laser surgery, it is no need to worry that it will destroy your eyes. If you are experiencing dryness your ophtalmologist may advice using lubricating ointment at bedtime to prevent the eyelid from sticking to the epithelium, and during the day you can use artificial tears to keep your eyes moist.
Do you also have blurred vision or light sensitivity?
how long did you take isotretionin, and when did you develop epithelial erossion (during the course). Did you do all the course with this medication as per your body weight? Is this the first time that you take doxy?
When a patient similar to your conditions meets at my clinic I prescribe Benzoyl peroxide 3% in the morning and Adapalene 0,1%at bedtime, also a
mild face wash (non comedogenic), and a good moisturiser such es Cetaphil Dermacontrol SPF 20, but since the medications are prescribtion drugs please talk about it with your treating physician.Take care of your skin, be patient, and please feel free to write me again if you want a real guide and support to acne.
