Does Irregular Heart Rate Need Medical Attention?

my husbands heart rate is over 100 and irregular. It started tonight after being out where he had been drinking alcohol and eating more than normal. His blood pressure is in the normal range. Should I take him to the hospital? He went into a fib 2 yrs. ago. and came out of it after a couple of hours being on an iv drug, amidorone.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to health care magic....

You have history of fibrillation before two year... And received amiodarone for that...

This time you have heart rate more than 100 , so fibrillation should be ruled out....
Your work up needed with....
-Auscultation of heart sound
-Blood pressure measurement
-EKG
-2D echocardiography etc...

If fibrillation present than amiodarone or suitable drug can be given....

Avoid smoking and alcohol....

Take care

Advise : Consult cardiologist for examination and further work up....
