Does Intake Of Medrol Help In Treating Chronic Cough And Cold?
I have narrow angle glaucoma and have a bad head and chest cold. I have taken Tylenol, chicken broth w garlic, honey, pineapple juice (for antihistamine effect). Vicks on chest each night...the dry hacking cough is driving me crazy and I cannot get any relief or rest. Today is day 3. I spoke with the physician on call at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute to check if it was OK to use an albuterol inhaler for a couple of days and received a go ahead. Nothing helps! Menthol cough drops don t help. Do you think one round of a Medrol dose pack would help? I m at my wits end. Catherine
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Taking medrol as recommended by your Doctor is not contraindicated in glaucoma. You may feel better on it.However, the cause of cough will still have to be investigated given the fact that is is chronic.Possible causes may include: Respiratory infection by viruses or bacteria, allergy or other respiratory pathologies like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic bronchitis... Just see your Doctor for a chest X ray and a respiratory function test.In the meantime, i will advise you try the following: -Continue with medrol -Take an anti-histamine/anti-cough drug like benadryl oral -Avoid cold, dust and smoke -A steroid like prednisolone will also help Hope this will help Best regards
