Does High Cholesterol Increase Chances Of Clotting?
Hi, I am 37 years old I just found out today that my LDL cholesterol is 6.1 and I am a lupus patient does that increase the chance of clotting? and I don't eat much fatty food what do you think caused my cholesterol to be high. Note: I have my goiter removed 8 years ago and I take thyroxin 100 I take warfarin too 8m
Dear Sir/ Madam Thanks for your query. 1. Yes, high cholesterol is associated with higher chances of clot formation in blood vessels. This can be caused as a direct effect as well as by promoting formation of lipid laden plaques which in turn may invite clot formation (as they erode or rupture). 2. This LDL cholesterol level is definitely high and needs therapy. You must see your physician/ internist and get evaluated. If there is no reversible cause, you must be prescribed cholesterol lowering therapy. Sincerely Sukhvinder
