Does Herpes Cause Swelling In Mouth And Jaw Pain?

I have herpes 1 inside my mouth. I have alot of swelling inside my mouth where the outbreak is and it feels like something is always stuck in my throat. I also have pain in my jaw and ear on the same side as the outbreak. Is this normal and what can I do about it.

Hi,
HSV 1 causes oral herpes and yes,the symptoms include pain and swelling inside the cheeks, sores on the gums, lips, teeth, etc.The pain is also associated with the infection. You can use ibuprofen/acetiminophen for the pain.Hydrate well.Avoid direct contact with the lesions/secretions.In severe cases antiviral meds are recommended. You can try local aneasthetic solution/spray for pain relief.
