Does Growth Of Wisdom Teeth Cause A Sore On Inner Cheek With Swollen Gums?

Hi,

I have recently developed a sore on my inner right cheek relatively close to where my wisdom tooth is growing in. My wisdom teeth are growing in on all four sides, but have only started poking through the gum on the top right. This sore has caused my lower gums to become very red and swollen and has caused significant pain. I am unable to eat properly, open my mouth all the way, or talk without feeling pain. I also feel pain when touching my cheek on the outside of my face where the sore is located on the inside. The sore looks like a canker sore, which I have had before, but is much more painful and located in a position where it would be impossible to bite my cheek, causing the sore. My dentist has told me I will need to have my wisdom teeth removed in the future, so I am wondering if this sore has anything to do with my wisdom teeth. I am worried the tooth could be growing in wrong and trying to poke through my skin in the wrong spot, causing this pain. What could the sore be and is it related to the growth of my wisdom teeth?

Thanks.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there is a possibility that the painful sore on the inner cheek is a canker sore only as if could be related to the wisdom teeth in case if it is over the gums in relation to the wisdom tooth..
In case if the gums over the wisdom tooth are looking swollen and painful then the pain can be due to Pericoronitis that is inflamed gum flap over the wisdom tooth and canker sore can be secondary to it..
You need a consultation with a Dentist and get evaluated and a clinical examination along with an x ray can help in diagnosis..
In case if it is due to wisdom tooth extration of the same under an antibiotic cover will relieve the symptoms permanently..
As of now you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine, take Ibuprofen to relieve pain and inflammation, do warm saline gargles and take a multivitamin tablet daily..
Avoid spicy and hard foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
