Does Finasteride Affect Sexual Drive?

Hello Doctor, I am having hair loss and consulted a doctor who has prescribed me Finasteried 5mg (once in morning ) and follihair.. I read Finasteride has impact on sexual drive. Need your suggestion on that because i dont want to be impotent just for hair.. Thanks

Yes, Finasteride affects your sexual drive. It decreases the libido(sexual drive), can cause erectile dysfunction(impotency) and other ejaculatory problems. All these above side effects occurs in 1% to 10% of patient taking Finasteride.
The drugs action is based on the reduction of active form of testosterone that is dihydrotestosterone. This explains the higher side effects related to sexual drive and other side effects.
