Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal, MD.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

As per the most recent guidelines, an FBS of more than 124 is said to be diabetes. What you have right now is something called as IFG- impaired fasting glucose. The term implies that the sugars are higher than normal, but not yet in the diabetic range.

Your HbA1C is normal, and so I have doubts if the values were correct. Either that, or you did not give the sample in a fasting state. Even a tea/coffee with give inaccurate results.

This is a stage where good diet control measures and regular exercise may help you keep the sugars in check for a long time. A regular check up of FBS, PPBS, HbA1C every 6 months is recommended, so we can know and do something as soon as IFG converts to full diabetes

I will suggest testing an OGTT with 75 gm glucose.

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above/if any other so I can be of help further.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Please feel free to ask another query. I would be glad to help you. Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further.
