Does Extreme Drop In Blood Sugar Cause Discoloration In Fingers?

I had a patient today that her blood sugar dropped to 53. I noticed that her fingers were blue. When I brought her bgl back up to 143 the discoloration went away. I have never seen this before and she has not been diagnosed as a diabetic. Is this possible?

Hi Welcome to HCM

I have gone through you query .regarding discoloration in fingers .

Bravo ! Dear your presence of mind saved a soul . congrats .

- Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar can be a dangerous condition. Taking too much medication, skipping meals, eating less than normal, or exercising more than usual can lead to low blood sugar. Blood sugar is also known as glucose.

Sweating; difficulty sleeping; skin tingling; numbness in fingers; trouble thinking clearly or concentrating; loss of consciousness .

When your glucose level is too low, your body doesn't have enough energy to warm your body, finger become blue or white -depends on person to person . is a well known fact .
Hope this helps solve your query . Keep it up .All the best

Don't hesitate to come back if have further query .
