My daughter is 26y.o. having epilepsy since age of 7. She is currently on Topiramate 50mg(400mg daily) dosage. She gets mild epilepsy seizures after almost every 2yrs. As we are looking for prospective grooms, the common question arises whether this illness will last forever. Kindly advise some solution to this problem, we are at present staying at Hyderabad. Would appreciate your prompt response. Regards, Ajeet Banerjee (ajeetbanerjee61@gmail.com)
welcome to healthcaremagic..
i would advise u to get a EEG done immediately to find out the cause and treat her condition..if the cause is treatable, medications wont be required for long time..but since she has got it for about 20yrs , she will have to take the medications for atleast 5-10 years as a prophylaxis..her medications has to changed or the dosage has to be increased..act early
Thanks for using Helathcaremagic. 30% of people don't get cured by drugs. They may require surgery for cure. It is the same in your case. If you have not responded to medicines in the past changing medicines is not going to help. Meet a Epilepsy specialist (Epileptologist) to find out if you can undergo surgery or not.
