Does Endometriosis Affect The Spine?

When I was 26 I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis. At 28 I had a total hysterectomy where during the surgery, my bowels , tubes and ovaries were all attached with endometriosis. I m now 37 with degenerative disc disease. I m also wondering if endometriosis has traveled to parts of my spine. I know it s a slim case, but my whole medical history has been a freak show. Can you give me any ideas about how to find out if there is endometriosis in my spine?

hi mam, there are reported cases of spinal endometriosis though very very very few.in those cases, the spinal canal, cord are affected.only 1 case is reported where vertebrae(lumbar) are affected.MRI scan of spine would easily make out any lesions if present.even a plain x-ray would do the job.but as you mentioned degenerative disc disease,if it had been diagnosed after an MRI by a specialist doctor,u can be sure of absence of spinal endometriosis.so,I conclude saying that there is a very very very low possibility of endometriosis affecting the spine and if you hadn’t undergone any MRI spine till now,you can do so to rule it out.hope I’m clear so far.any other health queries, please do write to us.its my pleasure to be of any help to you.thank you.wish you a very happy, healthy and peaceful new year 2018.take care.bye.
