Does Drinking Alcohol Lowers Blood Platelet Count?
My name is Jim. I m an alcohol abuser --- white wine only. I was told that (this) would lower my blood platelettes (sp?) to the point where I could bleed to death. How low (cbc) do my platless drop before I can t even have a tooth pulled without bleeding to death?

Thank you for asking. Beeding tendencies due to lower platelet levels have many causes and yes alcohol addiction and smoking is one of them. But alcohol more works by deranging Liver production of clotting factors so it is more from clotting factors than platelets. usually platelets levels less than 10ks is dangerous to be bleeding to death. normally platelets are in the range of 150ks to 300 ks.
