Hi doc. I have some question. My brother has diagnosed NAFLD one and half month ago on his annual MCU. It diagnosed by high level of Triglyceride, cholesterol and his SGPT/SGOT is twiced from highest normal level. He treated with simvastatin, fenofibrate and curcuma and suggested to change his diet. As he started to chage eating habit from hi-carb (hi amount of white rice per eat) and fat (deep fried things, meat etc) to more healthy diet as suggested (he reduce and or change rice to boiled potato and no oil or fat, he also eat a lot of green vegs and some fruits) he starting lose weight until now. His cholesterol and triglycerides are back to normal and his SGPT SGOT are start to set back to normal level, although his PT level are still 7 points higher from upper normal level when he checked 2 days ago. Because he have to do ramadhan fasting (yes he is muslim) he started to worry when he see his urine get more darker than usual especially when he just finishing his fast. He really concerned whether he got jaundice or not. So here is my questions. Can we get jaundice when our SGOT/PT level is normal or slightly high (like my brother case)? Is his darker urine is sign of jaundice or just lack of hydration as he doing fasting (start from 4.30 to 18.00) ? He also tell me that after he drinks plenty of water, his urine start to have normal color. is there any other signs to check is he get jaundice or not? And what the differences high concentrated urine and dark urine from jaundice? Thanks in advance.
