Does Cyst Causes Lump ?

I have a sebaceous cyst on the back of my head. Around the same time I noticed a small knot like lump on the side of my neck about 2-3 inches under my left ear. It is painful. Do you think that the lump is from the cyst? Or does it need to be checked for cancer?
