Does Appendectomy Cause Irregular Menstruation?

Hi, I am a 19 year old, healthy female living in the United States. I have my appendix removed in January, and had mild pneumonia twice in Feb. & March. I have not had my period yet, and it is now May. I have missed my periods at the end of January, Feb., March, April. I have taken four pregnancy tests over that same time frame, all negative. I am wondering if the appendix removal affected my menstrual cycle somehow?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are different possible causes for delayed or irregular periods such as:
(1)emotional stress or illness
(2)high levels of thyroid hormone
(3)physical illness
(4)high levels of prolactin hormone
(5)polycystic ovarian syndrome

The appendix removal should not be still having an impact.

You may need to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment which would include examination, blood tests to check hormonal levels and ultrasound.

Treatment would depend on the cause.

I hope this helps
