Does Accidental Pricking Of Finger With An Unused Needle Require Medical Attention?
I pricked myself with a needle used to give a cat sub qutaneous fluids. It was a new unused needle and cut the side of my index finger while I was trying to remove the cap and also keep my cat still. I flushed the area with water and soap . Does it warrant a trip to the doctor ? It hurt like crazy and now the area around the wound is slightly swelled and hard...but no pain

Noted you are having unused needle stick injury...
So need no much attention.
Because newly opened needle are not infected .So chances of acquiring infection like HIV, hepatitis is nil here....
Take brufen like antiinflammatory drug for it.
You can apply cold compress.
Don't worry.
Keep that area clean...
No need for doctor consultation here.
