Does Abdominal Pain During Pregnancy Indicate Early Labor?

Hi, I am 39 weeks & 2 days pregnant, and have been experincing lower sharp abdominal pain that is sometimes accompained with lower back pain (much like menstrual cramps). It happens mostly when I stand up or walk for a certain amount of time. I lost my mucus plug about 2 weeks ago and at my last appt. I was 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced. is this a sign of early labor? Should I call my OB?

Do not concern.

You might feel mild abdominal contractions, which are warm-ups you to prepare your uterus for the real labor to come.

If these contractions are not so intense, it may be not the real labor contractions. Also as you told that your cervix is 1 cm dilated so there are less chance that these indicate early labo .

One main difference is that real labor contractions gradually get closer and closer together and more intense.

So if you feel such type of contractions, you should call your doctor immediately.

All the best and take care.
