Does A Swollen Toe Nail Require Medical Attention Post Injury?

My 2.5 year old daughter dropped something heavy on her big toe. It didn't break the skin, but the toe above the nail bed is swollen and has a reddish color. She can't walk on it, and she won't even my wife or I touch it. Just wondering if I should take her to the hospital or give a few days.

Toe nail when sustained injury, blood get accumulated underneath it , so nail looks blue/red.Some time when blood accumulated is very less than it absorbed by its own. But some time it need removal through a small cut. My advice to you is that you should show her to a doctor. She may need antibiotics and pain killer. Being a small child she can not explain you about her condition, but let me tell you it is very painful condition.
