Does Venlafaxine Help To Get Rid Of Hallucinations?

hey my name is karla lang and in the 3 weeks of oct I have ben hering my own voice to kill my self or shoot my slef and I talked to my reg dr today and she had prescribed me venlafaxine she thinks it will help get rid of my own voice or suised thoughts ! will venlafaxine get rid of those thought in my head?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Venlafaxine is an anti depressant and would help reduce any symptoms of depression including ideas of self harm but you may need additional treatment as well.

You may want to consider counselling with a psychologist or psychiatrist. One of these would be able to offer more in depth treatment for you.

The venlafaxine , like most antidepressants, can take 1 to 3 weeks to have an effect.
The counselling would help in the interim and also after the medication has started to be effective.
