Does Tylenol And Codeine Show Up In Drug Test Afte An Year?

Hi, I took a hair drug test last Wednesday for a new job, normally I wouldn t be worried but back in February I had a procedure done and took one of my mom s vicodin. Then back in January I was very sick my throat was very sore and the ibprofen just wasn t working so I took a few of my mom s tylenol with codeine. I know it is illegal to take someone else s prescription meds, but it s my mothers. My question is do you know or think my test will come back positive because of this and I will not get the job?

Hello dear. The body quickly absorbs and metabolizes codeine narcotics. There is no need for you to worry about it now.

So for most standard blood or urine screens, codeine will be detectable for 1-2 days. However, codeine is detectable in hair for longer periods of time. Codeine starts to take effect quickly. It reaches peak levels in about 30 minutes, at 200 ng/ml. After peak effect, codeine has a half-life of about 3 hours. Due to its short half-life, codeine doesn’t stay in the blood long-term. In fact, codeine will typically fall beneath detectable levels after a day. Blood tests will probably only be ordered in situations requiring medical treatment for potential overdose or other adverse effects.

Hair follicle samples testing for drugs such as codeine is not standard for pre-employment or workplace drug screens and is only usually used to monitor people in drug treatment programs. Still, codeine can be detected in hair for about 90 days. This detection window depends on the length of your hair is and how much codeine you’ve taken in the past. Trace amounts of codeine will be harder to detect than chronic abuse.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
