Does Plan B Cause Vaginal Bleeding With Cramps?

Hello, I am experiencing vaginal bleeding and a bit of cramping, my last period was 11 days ago and my pregnancy tests keep coming back negative. I have taken Plan B less than 24 hours after unprotected sex last Tuesday and my next period should be later this month. I am just now concerned about the bleeding which began this morning.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I understand your concern.

1) As you have taken Plan-B after unprotected sex, you will get more than 95% protection against unwanted pregnancy. Your chance of pregnancy is quite LOW. Early pregnancy test is not significant.

2) You have gotten withdrawal bleeding like period and cramp due to effect of the pill. However, you may face irregular or late period for next 1 to 2 cycles due to hormonal imbalance and associated mental stress.

3) I suggest you to undergo one home pregnancy test if your next period delays more than 1 week. Review with test result for next management.

Hope, it helps for your information. Good luck and take care.
