Does Plan-B Alter The Menstrual Cycle?

got my period january the 20th until the 25th and I had unprotected sex on the 26th, a day after my period. He did not ejaculate in me or anything but to be safe I took plan b. 2 days after plan B, it gave me a week period (withdrawal bleeding). I had sex again on saturday feb 6 but he pulls out, he does not ejaculate in me and I know this is risky but I do see him ejaculate on me and I was just wondering if I could be pregnant still.. I am expected to get my period the 17th, I was just wondering is plan B going to affect my next period? And is the pull out method actually reliable if he knows what he s doing. I was also wondering when I should be expected to ovulate next, because taking that PLAN B made my egg not get fertilized so I was wondering what happens with that? I am confused on understanding if I can ovulate twice a month or? I do not know when I was fertile after the withdrawal bleeding, I am experiencing white dry discharge

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. It would prevent pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding within 3 weeks from its intake.
Following this, number of days of your cycle will maintain the same as before, except the alterations in date. Hence, ovulation would not get affected from the subsequent cycle.
Although pull out method is practiced to prevent pregnancy, it is not a reliable method as the failure rate is quite high. This is because, pre-ejaculatory fluid contains some active sperms, which could fertilize ovum and cause pregnancy.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
