Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am going for a urine test tomorrow for medical examination student visa migration purposes. I have been taking Norethisterone for a week now. My supposed period date was last friday, I took one last pill on saturday morning and I have stopped then. My period is supposed to come 2-3 days time according to the internet users after stopping it. The clinic told me that if menses were detected in my urine test, I would have failed it due to the blood in my urine and I will be told to come back 3-5 days after my period. I can t afford to wait that long because I will be abroad already! What should I do? Should I start on my norethisterone again today to delay my period for my urine test tomorrow? Would that work? Also, would noresthisterone affect my urine test in anyway? PLEASE ADVICE.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Norethisterone is used for correction of menstrual cycle or for postponement of periods. Generally, you should get your periods by 3 to 5 days after stopping the medication. If the delay in getting periods is more than 10 days, you need to seek medical attention promptly. Hope the information provided helps. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
