hi! I have pigmentation problem on my cheek, I consulted a dermatologist, he told me that it is the early stage of melasma.. He has advised me to use melacare cream and melgard sunscreen 50+. I have to apply melacare twice in a week and sunscreen daily. Kindly tell me whether this will remove the pigment permanently?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello dear,
Welcome to HCM.
I have read your query and understood your concern.

Your dermatologist has correctly prescribed you medications for melasma.
It will help in reducing melasma gradually.
Melasma is a highly recurrent condition, so no one can actually reassure that it wont ever come back but if certain precautions are taken like sun protection, recurrence can be avoided to some extent.

Good luck.
