Does Lopamide Help With IBS?

I am a patient of ibs last one year .I have taken so many medicines like colospa ,rafigut400 but still i feel unwell.should i lake lopamide regulary. starting i have laken lopamide but i not relaxed. again myfamily doctor advise to lake lopamide one tablet daily.please advise me.i am sisty two years old.thank you

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
When diarrhea is severe, especially in the painless diarrhea variant of IBS, small doses of loperamide, 2–4 mg every 4–6 h up to a maximum of 12 g/d, can be prescribed.These agents are most useful if taken before anticipated stressful events that are known to cause diarrhea.
Regular daily dose of loperamide is not advisable.
