Does Flucloxacillin 500mg Interfere With Levest Contraceptive Pill?
Hi, I have recently been prescribed Flucloxacillin 500mg, 4 times a day. I took it for week last month and had no issues. However, I am now 5 days in and yesturday I experienced some minor brown coloured blood. I am on the Levest contraceptive pill and worried this is becoming ineffective due to the antibiotics. I would be grateful to recieve some advice. Many thanks.

Hello dear,
Flucloxacillin may decrease effectiveness of oral contraceptives.I usually advice extra protection(like condom) during the course to my patients.If you got any doubt,do a urine pregnancy test after 1 week of missing the period.If negative,repeat after 1 more week-if still negative,need not worry.
