Does Eltroxin Cause Weight Loss?

Hi.i m suffering from hyperthyroidism since one year,docter has prescribed me 100mg ELTROCIN(thyroxin sodium tablets).my weight is decreasing day by day .i want to know if I am taking correct medicines??? Or in other words which medicines R prescribed for hyperthyroidism in India??? I want to know tablet name and brand name.. Plz help

I read your query very carefully.
First of all if you are suffering from Hyperthyroidism then you should be on
1- Radioactive Iodine
2- Anti-thyroid drugs
3- Beta Blockers
Thyroxine is a medicine to be used for Hypothyroidism not Hyperthyroidism.
now I need to know some details
1- Is there any swelling front of your neck??
2- have you ever noticed that your heart rate is fast??
3- is there any complaint of Heat intolerence?
As per your query weight loss is a feature of Hyperthyroidism.
You should go for Thyroid Function test and consult your physician again. either it is Hypo or Hyperthyroidism.
