Does Duvadilan Has Any Side Effects On The Pregnant Woman?

I'm Logesh. My wife aged 28. In the year December 31st 2012, undergone "Dilation and Curettage" due to no heart beat for fetus in the 10th week. Then 3 months later we went for checkup and doc suggested her for ovarian drilling as there are cyst. Then ovarian drilling also made and took medication for 3 months and int the fourth month she got conformed about pregnancy. In the the scan of 18 week doc told about the shorter cervix (Length -24 mm) and also asked to undergo cervical cerclage as an remedial for incompetent cervix. Now its she has undergone cervical cerclage and 4 weeks passed. Doctor prescribed duvadilan retard capsule of 30 Nos while a visit before 2 days ago. Now its 23 weeks and my wife does not have any pain after cervical cerclage. But why duvadilan retard is prescribed with out any pain and whether to continue it. Is it safe and how long to continue it. I'm aware of the duvadilan retard which effect of relaxing the uterus, but cervical cerclage is performed already to prevent premature labour. Please suggest me about this doctor.

In the current scenario, Duvadilan, which contains a uterine muscle relaxant has been prescribed not only to set the uterus at rest, but also to prevent any further irritability that may arise as a result of the cervical encirclage since any procedure on the uterus and cervix during pregnancy is teemed with the risk of enhancing uterine irritability. So, the cervical encirclage will prevent opening of the cervical os before term while the medication will ease the uterus. Duvadilan can be continued until term or as long as your consultant wants it. Hope your query has been clarified. Take care.
