Does Clindamycin HCL Prescribed For Tooth Abscess Cause Diverticulitis?

I have a bad abcess tooth and the dentist gave me clindamycin hcl 150ml
I just saw the side effects and I am having a bout with diverticulitis right now as well and it says to tell your doctor if you have this before taking this medication but I seen a dentist for the abcess so I did not know to tell him should I be taking this while I am having this bout with my diverticulitis

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have a deeply decayed tooth and the antibiotic advised to you that is Clindamycin is suitable to relieve the infection..
As far as Diverticulitis is concerned it is a painful condition in which there is formation or diverticula or pouches in the wall of colon..
It is generally treatment with antibiotics and therfore there is no harm on taking antibiotics but still you need to consult your treating Gastroenterologist from whom you are taking treatment for Diverticulitis as well as before starting the medicine you can intimate your dentist..
Diverticulitis is generally treatment with antibiotics like Amoxicillin, Augmentin, Ciproflixacin etc and same can be given for dental infections..
Therfore your physician or dentist may even change the antibiotic so that you can get a double benefit from single antibiotic..
So it is better to consult your dentist and physician before starting the antibiotic..
You can as of now tale Acetaminophen to relieve pain..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
