Does COPD Affect Pregnancy?

hi i was just wondering my mother is 46 years of age nd thinks she mite be pregnant but is scared that her copd she was diagnosed 9 years ago nd has only had one bad experience with it nd that was when she was diagnosed with it will this effect her pregnancy??

Yes, COPD (chronic obstructive Pulmonary disease) can affect pregnancy.
COPD is chronic, progressive inflammatory disease of lungs. It causes breathlessness, recurrent lung infection, heart failure, arrhythmia, Pulmonary hypertension etc.
And all these can worsen in pregnancy.
So control of COPD is must if patient is planning for pregnancy or already pregnant.
With controlled COPD, normal pregnancy can be achieved.
So no need to worry much for pregnancy with COPD if COPD is fully controlled.
So be cautious while having pregnancy with COPD.
Strict control of COPD is needed to achieve normal pregnancy.
