General & Family Physician, Dr. Deepti M's Response
Hello, Augmentin has an antibiotic called amoxycillin-clavulinic acid. If this antibiotic is taken in excess it leads to many side effects like diarrhea. It can lead to a condition called pseudomembranous colitis, which causes greenish stools or diarrhea. Your grandson might need to be given a drug called metronidazole to treat the condition. Do consult your doctor for further advice about dosing.
