what constitutes being addicted to ambien? i.e. how many weeks should you take it for sleep. If you have been taking if for 4 months and stop for seven days, then take another are you hook to it? I take 5mg at night, never have increased the dose, it just stays the same Any thoughts are appreciated

Hi! I would say that any addictive drug has got a physical as well as psychological component to it. Ambien does not have any "hooking"
or addictive side effects. However, a person who has some other reason
say, tension and anxiety or depression, then he may self medicate with
Ambien, though the way you have described it does not constitute addiction in any way. In fact, Ambien is prescribed by doctors because it does not addict people. And certainly, I am confident that you are not addicted to it. Please stop worrying and be happy! 5 mg is the lowest dose. Regards, Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
