Do We Have To Wait Till The Demarkation Mark Appears In The Leg Of A Diabetic Patient For Amputation?
My mother have diabetic from last 20 years, but it is always under control PP.is under 150. She had an stroke on 28th Oct.09 and partially weak in her right side. From last 2 month s she is suffering from gangren in her left leg's finger & gradually develop in all fingers. She has examine 2 by very good surgeons more then 4 times. They advise me to wait till demarkation mark is appear for amputation. Now pl. advice me whether I 've to wait for that.
No need to wait, first of all amputation is needed when there is complete absence of blood flow to the region, complicated with infection and neuropathy causing death and nechrosis of the tissue.
Secondly It is adviced to undergo angiogram of the limb, which will show the degree and level of blockage.
Thirdly try to save the limb by restoring circulation rather than going for amputation.
There are so many ways to prevent it. Consult a vascular surgeon.
Thanks
