Do U Think People Change After Open Heart Sugery?
my daughter has had 2 open heart surgey ebstein abnormality if u are a docter u wood know whayt it is . i honestly believe that at the time there heart is put on the bypass machine for a split second there boby has stopped and i think there timeclock in the brain does somethink that changes there personality . my husband has only had 5 stents put in his heart but he has changed dramatically . my daughter has changed twice but i can handle her . but my husband is like a stranger i mean so different

It is recognised that there is sometimes a subtle change in a patient's mental state or personality following open heart surgery using bypass. It is thought it may be related to the changes that the process of cardiac bypass cause to the blood passing through the circulation of the brain.

Personality does not change the open heart surgery but there may be cardiac neurosis or icu psychosis after surgery or ICU stay this is due to stress after cardiac surgery. some times patient were put on bypass machine not in all cases, this machine act as heart which pumps the blood instead of heart, but it is not for split second but for longer period varies from 30 min to many hours, but bypass machine does not affect personality.
