Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Do Symptoms Of Pulmonary Embolism Need Immediate Medical Attention?
My 26 yo granddaughter lives in N.H. She is you can imagine Is in the hospital right now with all the symptoms of a pulmonary embolism. They are preparing her for a CT. As you can imagine, I am very concerned. She is a single mother of a 5yo. I don't know if I am premature in planning a trip there ASAP. Should I wait for the results of the CT? I really don't know what to do. Can you give me any suggestions?
I understand your concerns, but please try not to overthink the situation. Focus on the positive thoughts. She's already in he hospital, and the doctors will take best care of her.
I'd advise you to wait for the CT results. CT angiography is an excellent diagnostic test for assessment of the pulmonary vessels and the undrlying lung condition.
Pulmonary embolism complications depend on the size of the occluded vessels. It could be minimal and resolve quickly. But the concern then should be what caused this pulmonary embolism?
Don't rush things and wait for the results. Hopefully they will be reassuring.
For any further concerns, please feel free to write us anytime. Thank you for choosing HCM.
