Do Lack Of Energy, Mood Swings, Increased Weight Symptoms Of Diabetes?

Think my mum may have diabetes she lacks energy and her mood swings are up and down and she has put on lots of weight and has thick legs that are purple. She does not wee a lot and sometimes eats loads which maybe comfort eating. Her arm is covered in bruises. What do you reckon and recommend. also what is the best way to motivate her as she does nothing all day but sit on her sofa and half sleeps. She could be a youthful 61 year old but acts elderly sometimes. Her mum had diabetes so don t know if its passed down the family line.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi. i had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

Al the symptoms you have mentioned except putting on weight are symptoms of Diabetes. What you need to do is have blood sugar check ups. If higher, then control the sugar levels by consulting a local diabetologist and having initial assessment and start management.
The other cause could be depression, which you need to discuss with her or meet a psychologist if any.
For any thing active lifestyle is mandatory for better control. concentrate on that.

Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to us. we will be happy to help you. Thank you.
