As per your complain it seems that your daughter is suffering from chronic ear infections and if she gets frequent cough and cold it can be a probable cause for recurring ear infection as there is a direct communication between ear and throat via Eustachian tube.. Recurring ear infection can lead to inflammation of the ear drums thereby leading to swelling of eardrums.. Repeated infection and swelling of eardrum can also lead to perforation of eardrum and in that case there can be loss of hearing too.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get her thoroughly evaluated and the physician can also advise otoscopy to confirm the diagnosis.. In case of infection he can advise her antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers, decongestants and antibiotic ear drops..
