Two years ago I suffered a pulmonary embolism when 2 blood clots got stuck going into my lung. The pain in my mid to lower back is what prompted me to go to the ER. The reason for the embolism was prolonged sitting following a major eye surgery (in other words, an isolated incident) so I am not considered to be at any greater risk currently. today, I am experiencing a somewhat similar pain in my lower right back just about 4 above my waist. That seems low to be a lung problem but I must admit to feeling a bit paranoid about this. The pain is not as severe as 2 years ago but the fact that it is there is making me somewhat nervous. I do have arthritis in my back but this feels more like a strain. So, the question is: if I had blood clots in my lungs, would there by symptoms. I can t imagine having the same situation occur again, but one just never knows. By the way, I have access to wonderful health care - I don t want to go to the ER just because I am nervous.
