Do Birth Control Pills Cause Prolonged Bleeding During Periods?
Hi!im having amy 1st day of period last dec.2 and on that day i also start taking a birt pills..what happened is the normal cycle of my period is 5days but i notice while im taking also the pills it become longer..i still have bleeding til 9days..im having a bad side effect also of the pill..nausea,vomiting and gastric upset..i decided to stop taking the pills but i already taking 8days.my question is while im still having a bleeding until now its already 12days since i have my period..
Yes contraceptive _ birth control pills cause prolonged bleeding (polymenohhrea). This is due to hormonal imbalance caused by additional hormones in the pill. If the problems continue consult your gyneacologist. Stopping use of pills may be necessary and use another method. There are also other causes such as fibroids, endometrial hyperplasia, pelvic ultrasound and or MRI or Pelvic CT Scan to rule out any other abnormality.
